Your local Missouri Career Center allows program operators to provide Support Services to Adults, Dislocated Workers, Older Youth and Younger Youth who have been determined eligible to receive assistance and participate in a WIA Title 1 activity. Each customer is required to complete a Financial Needs Determination Form to document the total amount of family income received.

Support Services are justifiable when the customer's personal finances are not adequate to pay all expenses that are related to employment and or training success. Support Services are intended to ensure that adequate resources and support systems are in place, to enable the customer too successfully:
  • find employment
  • complete training
  • develop skills for new or better employment opportunities
  • enhance job retention and attaining self-sufficiency
WIA Support Services must be employment or training related and typically includes, but is not limited to, funding to provide the following:
  • Clothing
  • Supplies
  • Limited small equipment and or tools
  • Transportation assistance
  • Payment for drug testing
  • Mental and medical evaluations
  • Exam Fees
  • Other employment or training fees may be authorized

Funding to assist with Support Services is based on individual need and individual agency buget restraints. Needs related support Services are available only during training.
