WorkKeys Missouri Career Readiness
The purpose of the Missouri Career Readiness Certificate (MoCRC) is to connect Missouri businesses with skilled workers who demonstrate proficiency in basic workplace skills. It also connects workers with businesses to fill jobs appropriate for their skills. The MoCRC is a certificate in which the WorkKeys assessment is used to identify a person’s skill levels in three specific areas: Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics. These three areas have been consistently identified by employers nationwide as being essential in hiring new employees and for advancement of workers already on the job.
WorkKeys is based on two elements:
- A job profile, in which a trained profiler analyzes a specific job and determines what level of skill sets are needed to perform the job.
- An assessment of the job-seeker, given at either the local career center or community college, depending on the arrangements in the area.
There are three levels for the MoCRC: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, and they are issued based on WorkKeys assessment. The individuals assessment scores are entered in the Division of Workforce Development's case management system to assist career center staff in finding a good job match for the client. The MoCRC also influences career center service delivery: someone wishing to reach a higher level can be provided training, as appropriate, to increase skills and improve matches with jobs in the area.
